       I strongly agree that everyone is capable of lying, betrayal, and violence, which are basic parts of human nature. Without these character traits you would be perfect and nobody is perfect. Without lying, betrayal or violence everyone is your friend. We use these traits to depict our real friends from our fake friends. Honestly I am glad for the people that do these things so I know who to hang around and trust.

       If something is destined to happen, it will happen without your interference. This is the most correct/true statement I have ever heard. God has a plan for everyone on this earth. That plan is your destiny. If something you want to happen has not happened maybe it is because it is not your destiny. Since its not your destiny maybe you should leave it alone. When you leave it alone you would give a chance for you destiny to come through.

Hits and Misses

        The thing that has tortured me the most in this 9th grade english class is blog post. Blog post are very hard to write especially when it is a boring topic and still have to write two paragraphs. Sometimes I just sit here in front of the computer screen thinking about what to write. Some blog post you can not write two paragraphs for some topics. Although somehow I manage to ramble on with staying on topic to get two paragraphs. 

       The thing that I have been most successful with is is turning things on time and writing papers the write length. Also staying on topic with everything I write.  Sometimes I tend to ramble and never answer the questions correctly. Instead I talk about something totally random to take up space and only answer the question in one or two sentences. So that is one thing that makes me proud, that I don't random.

Strategies for Purple Hibiscus

       Purple Hibiscus is a very challenging book to read but I think the best strategies I use is reading ahead. When I read ahead I read the section that is due for that night and a little more. So the next day I read it agin and some more. So I read it twice to get a better understanding. This really helps for class discussions and with the post colonial cafe assignments.
       Another strategy that helps with understanding the book is reading aloud instead of in your head. It allows you to read fast while understanding what you read. They are both very helpful although reading ahead and reading it again is the most helpful. When using these strategies the book is less challenging if challenging at all.

384. Why do I Play Sports?

       Why do I play sports is a tricky question. If you ask somebody why I play sports they would say because he is tall and athletic but its more that that. I mainly play sports to get away from the mindsets that tend to cause me to be mad. When I am mad I tend to do two things play basketball or listen to music. Basketball clears my mind. When I dribble to take the shot nothing in the world can put worries in my mind at the time.
       The definition of a sport is "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment." I feel like this isn't all the way true. Sports are not just played for entertainment they are something that people use to be happy and live life. Also there is nothing like the adrenaline pumping in the 4th quarter and you hit the game winning shot and everyone goes crazy. It might be entertainment to others but, people play sports for a reason, because they love it just like I do.

    In" GOP Struggles to Govern Despite a Monopoly in Washington " the author discusses how the republicans say that democratic's Barack Obama eight years were bad for the community. While they are have trouble for them to say "yes" for Donald Trumps next years. Although with the GOP monopoly the are having a hard time of finding a way to govern. While having trouble the GOP is having trouble keeping their promise to undo Obama Care.
    In my opinion the GOP has good view points but, go the wrong way bout approaching something. Obama Care is not harming anyone if not helping. their focusing on the wrong things at the time. They need to focus on more economics and helping people find more jobs. I say this because unemployment rate is steady rising. I choose this article to speak my opinion on this crucial situation. Also this is something I find very interesting.

What Have I Learned

      I have learned a lot about myself as student. Things like I am a hard working, determined student. Although I am a procrastinator. When I get home work I wait until the last minute to do it but end up finishing it. Next quarter goals are to not procrastinate at moments notice. Also I have learned that I can no longer listen to things and understand what you are saying in the classroom. I am a visual learner and learn best that way.
       This last thing that I have had trouble with is time management. I am constantly distracted by other things that I shouldn't be and it takes time from me doing work. This semester I have to ave time management while not getting distracted . If i can fix these problems I have I can be more successful in the fourth quarter.

My Thoughts

       My mind is on two things. The number one on thing on my mind list is my ankle healing. If you don't know I hate this scooter and it is not fun. This thing actually hates me back though. Every time I hit a bump or a rock I take a chance in falling. So I just would like to start walking and play basketball again. Honestly my life without sports since I broke my ankle sucks and is the most boring time of my life. Instead of going home after practice and tired all the time, I have time on my hands and don't know what to do with it.
       The other thing is AAU basketball. For those of you who don"t know what AAU is, it is an organization of teams that play when basketball season is over with. At the moment I am having trouble finding a team to travel and play with. AAU is like the most elite teams that compete and is usually a fun experience. Although if I don't find a team soon I'm not playing, so I'm worried.

My Mardi Gras Break

      My Mardi Gras Break was the worst on but the best one at the same time. I say it was bad but I was basically bed written and couldn't go to New Orleans like I usually do. Instead I went to New Roads on Mardi Gras and sat down the whole time. Also when I was at home I was just doing make up work which was not fun. I say it was good because for a change I actually got sleep and watched TV.
      The funnest part is when I went to the two basketball games and saw my teammates take the "W" on Monday and Thursday. Therefore we get to got Lake Charles tomorrow. This make me glad because Episcopal has the chance to win the state championship if we beat Dunham or when we beat Dunham. So although I couldn't walk I made the best of my break. Also I never binge watched so many shows at a time.

Analyzing Song

"Umbrella" by Rihanna feat. Jay-Z - Lyrics 

       The song "Umbrella" has a rhyme scheme of ABAB and it makes the song catchier. When using the rhyme scheme ABAB it is common for wrappers or singers to make the song flow betters and sound better. In this particular song there are internal rhymes and end rhymes. The purpose of this song was for entertainment purposes but also gets deep. When the song comes to an end it becomes a free verse.

       Also in the song they use a lot of repetition to get their point across. Also lots of imagery because it makes you think a person is standing in the rain. Although there is a person that you love with an umbrella and then they invite you under the umbrella. You can interpret this as that I can trust you to protect me from any harm or danger. So the other purpose of this song was to express the felling of love.

Vocabulary

One word that I have mastered over the weeks of doing vocabulary.com is annihilate. Which means to kill in large numbers. I knew what the word meant basically. I just didn't know that it had to be many people for you to annihilate, not just one person. Also I had no idea that you spell annihilate that way. The next word is pummel. Most people know the definition of pummel which means to strike usually with a fist.

       Although most people pronounce and spell it wrong. The would spell it as if you were saying pumble and thats how people would spell it. The next word I learned is equestrian. Equestrian is of or related to horseback riding. I would get this word confused because it sounds like it is water related or a sea animal. 

Research

When learning how to write a good research paper I have found out that a good research paper is not descriptive. A good research is an argument. Not a weak argument, it is usually with much evidence and thing to back up your argument.  Most likely when you do a descriptive it will be boring but when you have an argument the readers will disagree or agree. This will keep your reader steady thinking about your view of the argument.
       One thing i am having trouble on and would like to fix is embedding my quotes. I feel it is difficult for me to embed quotes when it is in the middle or the end of a sentence. The question about it is where do you put the author when the quote is not at the end of the sentence. Although once I have that covered my Paper will be flawless.

Reading Response

       The part time Indian was very unfortunate because of the situations he would be in. Although sometimes he put himself in those situations. In most of the chapters it is about how hated he is by many people. He does not have any friends and has to go to his grandmother for advice. Also I know he felt  some type of way when Penelope said "Do I even know you?" Thats pretty sad the girl you like does not even know your name.
       I honestly do not see why anyone does not feel sorry for him. He has no self-esteem and feel like he does not belong in the world. He is a big laughing stock of his school. While people make racists jokes he takes it. He should try to take up for hisself and make himself known.  Other kids are bullies and i know you want a better education but I think you should stay on the reservation.

My Upcoming Weekend

       My upcoming weekend will hopefully be very interesting. Since me and some of my friends are what you will call loners, I guess. So on the night of Sadies we plan on having a very lit 2k tournament. For those who don't know what 2K is, it is basically a basketball game played on a Game system. So I plan on dominating this tournament. The only problem is that we do not have a venue for this wonderful occasion.If we do not find a venue that will be the only thing that will mess up my weekend.
       If you are reading this and want to be apart of this tournament or we can host at your house please let me know. If this tournament does not happen, I think I'm going to cry my sorrows away and stay in bed all weekend. Which does not sound like a bad idea because i need some serious rest. I just hope I can get through the week first. Which is highly likely but it is going to be hard.

ATDPTI

        The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian was kind of weird but at most most moments it is actually a good introduction. The way the author starts off grabs your attention and then start to tell an interesting story. The introduction makes it seem like what the author was about to say is going to be interesting funny and needed to be heard. The book is also very humorous and is made like you are talking directly to the author. He gives his reasoning for writing this book and his life growing up.

       What really throw me off but is meant to be funny is how he makes fun of things. He makes fun of himself. He makes fun of himself getting bullied and being poor. That is a weird way of grabbing your audience's attention but it worked. Most space on a page is taken up by a picture which makes everything he says visual. This makes it easier to understand.

Thirty Years' War

     My topic is known as the Thirty Years' War. My specific research question is: What was the most significant effect of the war? The Thirty Years' War was fought between most European states. The war was a religious war like the Crusades.  If was fought on the idea of equality between Catholics and Protestants.
    When the war was over there were many effects that shaped Europe to what it is today. The most important effect was it was one of the last and stopped many religious wars from happening. Other effects vary from money problems to boundaries being set. The Thirty Years' war was not like any war. This is because of it being a religious war that was actually thirty years.

Last Semester

       Last semester I realized that I am the biggest procrastinator. When I have a long period of time to do some thing I wait to the last minute to do it. I have time to get it done early but instead I try to rush and do it the night before.Procrastination is a problem with most people. When you procrastinate in high school i found out that it just stresses you out. On top of that it make your grade in classes go down.
       This semester, to not procrastinate soon as I get an assignment I will at least start on it. This will help me to have some of it done when I go back to it. Plus it will give me an overview of how much work I would have to put in. This semester will be 100 times better if I also look at Whipple Hill every night.  So the key for this semester is not to procrastinate and be responsible.

Free Post

       My winter break consisted of no fun. Basketball is fun to me but I'm talking about going to the movies with your friends of going out to eat. Instead of that I had basketball practice and games. The only peace I got over the break was on Christmas. Although I still didn't have peace then because I had to spend the whole day with family.

       Even New Years' Eve was horrible because it rained the whole time.  When it rained I did not have a chance to pop any firecrackers and they are still sitting in my living room today. So overall my break was not the best and I really did not get a break. Also like everyone say it was not long enough, we need more breaks. 

Research Update

     My research is up to par and is going well. Although I feel like my topic is kind of broad and it is hard to formulate a research question. When trying to formulate a question it is hard not to do a descriptive question. It would be so much easier if we could do descriptive questions. Also coming up with topic for each notecard is very challenging without doing a brief outline first.
     When we get past notecards the rest of the paper should be a breeze. The note cards basically lead up to the detailed outline and from the outline you say the same things in the paper.  So the notecards are the hardest thing in the process of writing this research paper. If it was not to late I would change my whole research topic.
